Find the right option for a damaged iPhone exterior
Front glass, back glass and the phone's frame are different repair decisions. Identify where the damage is before choosing a screen repair or housing enquiry.
Where is the damage?
Look at the location without pressing on broken glass. The front includes the display and touch surface; the rear may have separate glass; the housing forms the phone's enclosure. A bent edge or separating body deserves attention even when the screen still works.
Screen, back glass or housing?
Front-glass cracks, display lines or unreliable touch belong under screen replacement. Damage confined to the rear glass belongs under back glass replacement, where the model determines whether separate glass work is suitable. A bent or damaged enclosure belongs under housing replacement.
One drop can affect more than one area. A working display does not rule out frame damage, and a new exterior part will not repair a damaged camera or charging connection.
Screen replacement
Cracked glass, missing images and unreliable touch can point to screen trouble. A model-specific assessment helps establish whether display replacement is the right next step.
Back glass replacement
Cracked rear glass needs a model-specific decision. Ask whether separate back-glass work is supported or whether the damage calls for a housing assessment.
Housing replacement
A damaged phone body can need more than new glass. Housing enquiries establish whether a compatible reshell is suitable for the enclosure and existing components.
What else needs checking after a drop?
After a drop, damage may extend beyond the visible crack to the frame, cameras, charging connection or internal parts. A changed camera image, loss of sound, unreliable touch or a charging problem can indicate that the work needs to cover more than the glass.
Only check ordinary functions if the phone is safe to use. Avoid charging or continuing to use a swollen, severely damaged or unusually hot phone. Do not press damaged glass or force a distorted connector.
Choosing parts and agreeing the work
Parts and repair methods depend on the exact model and condition. The quote should distinguish what is being replaced from what will be reused, and explain feature limitations. Repairing the exterior does not automatically restore the phone's original water resistance.
Send the model and damage details
Send the model and photographs of the damaged area if you can take them safely. Note whether touch, image, cameras and charging still work. An initial photograph helps explain the problem, but inspection may still be necessary to establish the full scope.
Your questions, answered.
Is back glass part of the screen repair?
No. Front-screen work and rear-glass work are different jobs. The suitable scope depends on the model and whether the enclosure is also damaged.
What if the frame is bent?
A bent frame can affect how parts fit and may indicate wider damage. Ask about housing assessment rather than assuming a new screen alone is suitable.
Will opening the phone affect water resistance?
The original water-resistance rating is not promised after opening or resealing. Keep the repaired device away from water and discuss any relevant limitations before agreeing the work.
Tell David what needs attention.
A model, a description and a postcode are enough to start the conversation. The suitable work and total price are agreed before booking.
